V. A. Profillidis has the Diploma of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaloniki, DEA and Ph.D. in Transportation of the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees of Paris and the Diploma of Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Thessaloniki.
He has been an advisor to the Greek Ministry of Transport, the Greek Ministry of Public Works, the Greek Railways, the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the French Railways. He has taken part in many international conferences as well as meetings of the European Union, the World Bank and the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT). He has carried out a number of transportation studies, traffic studies, feasibility studies, transport modeling studies, organization and management studies, airport master plans, and metro and railway track designs.
He is Professor at the Section of Transportation of Democritus University of Thrace, where he has been teaching since 1990. He has served as Chairman in the School of Architecture in the same University for 5 years (2008-2013). He has also taught as a Visiting Professor at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki (1995-99). He has written to this day 11 books and over 220 scientific papers that have been published in international and greek scientific journals as well as Conference Proceedings.
He speaks English and French fluently and Spanish and German moderately.
